IN PRIVATE TESTING NOW — FOUNDING LIST OPEN

Know where the fish are biting. Before you leave the dock.

The ultimate digital tackle box — built for Jersey waters.

NJ Salt Signal puts local fishing reports, tides, weather, current NJ regulations, and your catch log in one app — built for New Jersey saltwater, from Sandy Hook to Cape May. Reports come from the captains, party boats, and tackle shops you already trust, not strangers three states away.

The app

Everything in your tackle box. And everything that isn't.

Right now the morning routine is five apps, two Facebook groups, and a group chat. NJ Salt Signal replaces all of it.

  • Reports you can trust

One feed, labeled by source — party boat & charter, tackle shop, or angler report. Post your own in about 30 seconds; when you share, your exact spot is stripped automatically. Zone and general structure only.

  • Tides & weather, side by side

Tide windows, wind, and conditions for your zone in a single glance — the go / no-go decision without juggling three weather apps.

  • 64-species guide with live NJ regs

Every saltwater species and shellfish you can catch here — seasons, size and bag limits, ID help, and technique — all driven by the current 2026 New Jersey regulations.

  • Catch log & Brag Board

Log a catch in seconds and share it as a report with one tap. Trophy fish and personal bests make the Brag Board — always by zone, never by spot.

Coverage

Sandy Hook to Cape May, zone by zone

New Jersey's coast isn't one fishery — it's six. Reports, tides, and conditions are organized by the zone you actually fish, so a hot bite in Cape May never buries the one at your inlet.

  1. ZONE 1

    Sandy Hook & Raritan Bay

Atlantic Highlands, Keyport, Perth Amboy — spring striper central and the fall run's first stop.

  2. ZONE 2

    Manasquan & Point Pleasant

Belmar, Brielle, Manasquan Inlet — party boat row, the Shark River reef, and tog country.

  3. ZONE 3

Barnegat Bay & Long Beach Island

Barnegat Light, Ship Bottom, Seaside, Forked River — surf, jetty, and back-bay fishing at its best.

  4. ZONE 4

    Atlantic City & Brigantine

Back-bay fluke, sheepshead at the bridges, and the fall mullet run along the beaches.

  5. ZONE 5

    Ocean City

Ocean City, Strathmere, Sea Isle — Corson's Inlet, the back-bay sod banks, and night fishing under the bridges.

  6. ZONE 6

    Cape May & Delaware Bay

Cape May, Wildwood, the Delaware Bayshore — drum in the spring, weakfish and croaker in the bay, tuna off the point.

Brag Board

The catches worth bragging about

The Brag Board features notable catches — a personal best, a trophy for its species, or an editor's pick. Cards show the photo, species, size, and zone. Never the spot: your honey hole stays yours.

Zone 2Personal best

The kind of fall-run fish the Brag Board exists for. Fish that size go back — and a released fish can still headline the board.

Zone 2 · Party boat

Party-boat limits are Brag Board material too. Legality is checked against current regs first — an undersized or out-of-season keeper never gets featured.

Species guide

64 species

54 fish and 10 shellfish, each with identification, seasons, size and bag limits, and how to catch it — driven by a single 2026 New Jersey regulations dataset, so the guide never disagrees with itself.

Become a Founding Partner

The reports feed is only as good as the people feeding it. We're recruiting a small founding class of verified contributors, zone by zone, before launch.

  • Free Featured listing for 12 months — your boat or shop, front and center in your zone.
  • Verified Contributor badge — your reports carry the label anglers learn to trust first.
  • A personalized demo with your name on it — see exactly how your business appears in the app before you commit to anything.
  • In exchange: 2–3 short reports a week during your season, and honest feedback while we finish the app.

Built by an angler, not a startup

“I've fished these waters for 40 years — party boats out of Atlantic Highlands, Belmar, and Point Pleasant, the surf, the bays. Every app I tried was built somewhere else, for somewhere else. NJ Salt Signal is the one I always wanted in my pocket: our boats, our shops, our zones, our rules.”

Questions

The short answers

When does it launch?
The app is in private testing now with a working build — reports, tides, the full species guide, and the catch log are already running. Founding-list members get access first as testing widens, ahead of the public launch. We'd rather open it when it's genuinely ready than hit a date with a half-finished app.
How much will it cost?
There's a free tier, plus a subscription for the full toolkit. Founding members lock in founding pricing before public rates are set — joining the list is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
Which areas does it cover?
All of New Jersey's saltwater, organized in six zones from Sandy Hook and Raritan Bay down to Cape May and Delaware Bay — ocean, inlets, surf, jetties, and back bays. Freshwater and other states come later; Jersey comes first and gets done right.
Will posting a report burn my spot?
No — that's a rule, not a setting. Reports and Brag Board cards show the zone and general structure only ("jetty," "reef," "back bay"). Exact locations are stripped automatically when you share from your log, and your private spots stay private in your log.
Where do the reports come from?
Three labeled sources: party boats and charters, tackle shops, and anglers themselves. Businesses in the founding partner program post as Verified Contributors, and every report is stamped with its source and zone so you can weigh it yourself.
I'm a captain or shop owner — how do I get in?
Email reports@njsaltsignal.com or use the partner section above. Founding partners get a free Featured listing for 12 months and a Verified Contributor badge in exchange for a few short reports a week and launch feedback.
